It is Monday, and I am back.
I think I need to accept that Thursday and Friday I am going to be too tired and/or busy to really blog.
The ends of the week are the dregs at the bottom of the barrel of my soul and there’s not enough to go around.
I think I’m back to … well, mostly normal with eating. Which is good. It was pretty tricky there for a note minute.
In the flip side that means I’m really struggling to eat on time and often enough. Heh.
I got a plan for the week though, and I will share it:
… never mind, I will NOT share it. The photo won’t upload. Lol.
However, here was our thinking process:
As you can see, it is quite intensive.
Anyway.
It’s been hard.
We went to pick up my new meds on Friday, and.that turned in to a fiasco. Sigh.
We got up to the counter, and the pharmacist was talking REALLY fast, and I was overwhelmed, and really upset ANYWAY, because NEEDLES, and she didn’t realize at first that this was my first TIME getting all these meds, and then she started asking me a bunch of QUESTIONS, like, why didn’t my doctor send over a prescription for the NEEDLES, do I know how to give myself injections (no), do I have a monitor for my blood sugar (also no), have I seen a diabetes nurse to learn these things (no), this is all standard of care, why didn’t my doctor do this (I DON’T MNOW, I AM THE PATIENT, NOT THE MEDICAL PROFESSIONL!), and then I was just CRYING hard, and she didn’t notice for a long time and I get that she was busy, etc, etc ….
It was not good, Rodney.
So, I have to call my doctors office, ask them to also prescribe the needles, and a blood monitoring kit and apparently to schedule a visit with a diabetic nurse … ugh.
And I just KNOW it is going to turn into an entire round of phone calls between me, the doctor, the insurance, the pharmacy, etc.
I do feel better about what we are eating. I got the whole thing planned out, and we figured out some staples we can get, so every meal we make is NOT from scratch and every grocery list has only like 20% special ingredients.
1. Heavy cream has no carbs or sugar, and it’s basically pure fat, so we are making fresh whip cream to eat with our fruit and berries. It. Feels. Decadent. And. Delicious. (I recommend flavoring it with vanilla or lemon zest.)
2. Crostini. So, you take bread, and Creswell Bakery has a DELICIOUS awhile grain sourdough, and then you toast it, and then you top it in DELICIOUSNESS. Like fancy cheeses dips or spreads, smoked salmon, roasted veggies … the options are limitless and it is also VERY FANCY FEELING.
OH, I should explain, the basic premise is to PAIR your carbs and sugars with fat, fiber, protein. any combo or all three. Because that slows the digestion and absorption of sugar and carbs into your blood stream, giving you a steady supply of energy and keeping your blood sugars from spiking.
They still go up and down, AS THEY SHOULD, but more like gentle, rolling hills, instead of Death Roller Coasters.
Also eating frequently, instead of, I don’t know, forgetting to eat for HOURS until your blood sugar PLUMMETS and then you’re HANGRY and you eat and then it SPIKES back up …
Anyway.
I had a total meltdown on Saturday for like … 3-4 hours. Part of it involved being really angry at Jordan, because I am overwhelmed (because, yknow, THAT makes sense) but we eventually worked things out, and we are trying things a different way now.
And we went to territorial seed and got PLANT EGGS!!!!!!!! (By which I mean seeds) We got … a LOT a of seeds.
Hee hee. Our garden is going to be fun this year.
And the baby plant lights and incubators are coming aged we should e good to start planting our indoor seeds THIS WEEK!!!!!!
Also we got two baby blueberries, and if I dont remember to bring them in at night the next. Opulent days when it is super cold, there is going to be a PROBLEM.
I’m super tired.
And … I still haven’t applied for that job. That’s what precipitated the meltdown on Saturday.
Also, this week is a very busy week! But I need to find the time SOMEHOW!!!!
This week is busy because it is LENT WEEK!!!!!
Tomorrow, Tuesday, is Shrove Tuesday, and you ar supposed to eat PANCAKES!
We will be going to church for the burning of the palms (the leaves, not people) and a pancake supper, and then WEDNESDAY, is Ash Wednesday, and we will be going to church for that too. I am very excited.
Also, Sunday starts a class on what the episcopal church believes, and practices, and we are both going. I am going, hopeful to become episcopal when the bishop comes in May, and Jordan is going, although he is not sure about being confirmed. Or received. Or … whatever it is,
I don’t know yet, I haven’t taken the class. XD
I’m not sure how I am doing today. We did have a nice day yesterday. We went to church, and we BOTH got communion. I was queen of Awkward Communion again, because the cup ran out RIGHT as it got to me, and so she had to go get it refilled, as I awkwardly waited, kneeling at the bar, lol.
At least I wasn’t totally alone this time, Jordan was there and so was some other person. Hee hee.
And then we went to a cofffee shop (there is one across the street) for Jordan to decompress. Church is still often very very hard.
Also Bingham’s sermon was on SUFFERING so we had FEELINGS.
Then we got to see Carey compete in a horse jumping competition. We took some pictures and film for Carey. Jordan was vibing at Peak Proud Papa, and it was adorable.
And we played a our new game: Everdell.
It is ADORABLE and SUPER fun. The first play through and reading the rules took FOREVER. but the second play through was nice.
Anyway,I don’t now what all I am feeling today, mostly tired, but it is well last time for. E to go to work.
